Use the Star Spotter function to see the sky in front of you in real-time. Star Walk features and how to use them:

DIGITAL COMPASS If you have an iPhone 3GS tilt your phone and the ''Star Spotter'' function will be activated, a live representation of what you see in the sky will appear on your display and the sky will start following your movements right, left, up, and down.

TIME MACHINE: tap the clock icon and scroll the time slider to watch the sky tonight or lets say two years from now. Travel in time and observe night sky on your birthday, be a part of astronomical events like eclipses and meteor showers.

SKY LIVE Window: open up the new window by tapping the moon-shaped button to see moon phases, elevation, and rising data for the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn.

PICTURE of the DAY: a push notification will appear on the Star Walk icon to tell you there is a new picture. Tap the right hand corner menu button, select glowing "Picture of the Day" button and a list of pictures will open in front of you. To learn more about the pictures tap the -i- icon on the top right hand corner.

BOOKMARKS: save a reminder of beautiful night sky observations, bookmark it on your iPhone and send it to your friends via e-mail.

VIEW from the EARTH: Automatic and manual selection of locations on a 3D globe.

MOON PHASES: select the SKY LIVE window and see the moon phases for several days. Change dates on the top to see the moon phases for the past or for the future. Or zoom in the image of Moon and scroll the time slider.

Wikipedia LINKS: select one celestial body and tap the - i - icon to activate the magnifier and read main information about it. To know more tap the Wiki icon at the bottom of the table and the Wikipedia page will open up.

SETTINGS: with the settings you can modify user preferences like you can change the screen to night mode, select brightness of the stars (change stars magnitude with a slider), put sounds on or off, switch on or off the constellations images.

CAN'T HEAR AUDIO TROUBLESHOOT HERE:
If you can't hear the voice/audio, try these steps:

1) make sure the iPhone volume is up to the max

2) If the ringer is on vibrate mode (button in the upper-left corner of iPhone), make sure to take it out of vibrate mode (flip the switch towards you)

3) This app downloads all its sounds using the iPhone's WiFi or 3G data connection. So you need your iPhone to be Internet-connected wirelessly, and run the app for a little while (about 10 seconds on WiFi, or a minute on 3G) until all the sounds load fully. Just connecting it to your PC isn't enough.

KidCalc teaches number recognition, counting and math to pre-schoolers, kindergarteners and elementary school aged children using flash cards and puzzle games, with engaging artwork, animation and voice-overs.

Word Magic is designed keeping preschooler and kindergarten kids in mind. It is very ideal for kids between the ages 3 to 6. It is an excellent application for kids to have fun with words and their spellings and learn them.

A picture is shown and the kids should select the missing letter for the picture. The picture for the word will be read out. There are three flavors. Based on the kids level, you can choose missing letter at the beginning or in the middle or in the last.

Word magic is loaded with lot of fun features:
- Very simple design. Kids need to just touch the answer.
- Very attractive and funny pictures.
- Once they identify the correct answer, shaking the iphone will take them to a new problem.
- Every time they pick the answers they get appreciated with surprise appreciation (real voice)
- After every 5 successive correct answers different colored stars appear as their rewards. Kids love this.

PopMath is a fun game for kids of all ages to practice basic math.

Pairs of bubbles float on the screen and your goal is to pop each pair. For example, one bubble says "7" and another says "3+4". Simply touch one bubble and then the other to pop them both.

At any time, you can choose different operators: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Our kids LOVE the iPhone and iPod Touch! So, we are developing fun applications that stimulate and inspire children to learn and practice math both at home and at school.

This application encourages Third Grade children to practice the addition of two triple digit (0-999) numbers (with carrying), the subtraction of two triple digit (0-999) numbers (with borrowing, but without negative answers), the traditional multiplication table of (1-12) times (1-12), and the whole number division table of (1-144) divided by (1-12).

Children can gain confidence by doing practice problems with unlimited time, or they can build proficiency by selecting "Minute Math" to see how many problems they can answer with a time limit. The app defaults to 5 problems and 30 seconds, but these can be changed very easily.

Teachers are using the Kids Math Fun applications in their classrooms. Considering their comments, we added a Double Dare feature so children can expand their math skills by mastering the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. A Try Again feature allows children to develop mastery by attempting a problem again if they get it wrong.

A new Show Scores button allows children and parents to see the high scores for all four regular and all four Minute Math activities.

A score board in the right hand corner, shows how many problems have been completed along with the totals for correct and wrong answers. Graphics include: Sports, Kids and Pets.

Total Practice Problems can be set between 5 and 100 problems, the Minute Math Timer can be set between 1/2 minute and 10 minutes, and High Scores can be cleared.

The app opens right to the activity, without a main menu. Each page has 12 items displayed with bright, cute cartoon items. Tap a picture, and a real life photo of the item pops open, accompanied by the sound it makes. Tap the picture anywhere, and it disappears.

Playing around with the app, you'll discover something even cooler each item has not one, but 4 real pictures and sounds! Bringing up something new every time you tap is a great way to keep kids attention. The photos are great, as is the sound quality of the recordings.

The musical instruments section features famous classical music pieces your kids can tap on a piano or trumpet and hear 4 different runs. Tapping on the drum shows them a drumset, bongos, marching drums and a timpani. With ships and fire trucks, sheep and monkeys, accordions and harmonicas, it would take a while for little ones to get tired of this game!

Instructions

How to Play and Win Math Bingo
The object of Math Bingo is to get a pattern of five Bingo Bugs in a row by correctly answering math problems. Math problems are presented at the top of the game screen. Feedback is presented at the bottom of the game screen. Correct solutions to problems answered incorrectly will be displayed.

Scoring
The score in Math Bingo is determined by the time to complete a game plus a two second penalty for each problem answered incorrectly.
Example:
Time to complete game 0:45 seconds
Incorrect answers: 3
Score: 45+6=51

Player Profiles
Math Bingo saves player information with custom player profiles. Each player profile consists of a unique name (up to 20 characters) and a fun cartoon avatar. The player profiles display total number of games played, total number of high scores achieved, and total number of Bingo Bugs collected. The guest profile does not store any information and therefore cannot achieve high scores or collect Bingo Bugs. The guest profile is useful for adults who want to play Math Bingo without their scores going into the scoreboard.

Selecting a Game
There are four different games in Math Bingo: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division. Players will be prompted to select a game type before game play.

Selecting a Level
There are three levels of game play in Math Bingo: easy, medium, and hard. Players will be prompted to select a game level before game play.
Score Board
Math Bingo displays high scores in the Score Board. There are four different Score Boards: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each Score Board displays the top three scores for each level: easy, medium, and hard.

Bingo Bugs
Bingo Bugs are rewards for achieving a high score. A player who earns a high score will collect a Bingo Bug! Players can collect a variety of Bingo Bugs and interact with them by tapping the Bingo Bug button in the player profile or by tapping the My Bingo Bugs button after playing a game. HINT: Tilt your device to make the Bingo Bugs move around, tap on a Bingo Bug to make them giggle and spring!

Settings
The settings menu can be accessed by clicking the information button on the lower right hand side the introduction screen. The settings menu will allow you to reset all high scores and to delete player profiles. WARNING: High scores and player profiles that have been erased cannot be restored!

A child who knows their letter names won't actually find that this helps them to read even simple words like yes". By contrast, a child who knows their letter sounds will learn to read words theyve never seen before.

PocketPhonics teaches the letter sounds for the letters in the alphabet. It also teaches over 30 letter sounds that come from combining letters together (like sh and ch), because they are key to reading so many frequently-used words. Most apps only teach A to Z.

It doesnt teach letter names at the same time as children are often confused by this.

LETTER WRITING
PocketPhonics visually demonstrates how to write each letter. An obvious thing to do, but quite tricky to program (and youll have to look hard to find another iPhone app that does this).

Children enjoy practising their writing by tracing the letter with their finger; with a shake they can erase their old writing and try again.

TeachMe: Toddler is different than most educational iPhone apps because it teaches six different age appropriate subjects: letters, abc phonics (letter sounds), numbers, shapes, colors and counting. Parents can choose which topics they want their child to learn, and can also set different difficulty levels for many of the subjects. Parents can review performance history for each subject to check on how their child is doing.

The simple and intuitive user interface is designed to be toddler friendly, which allows children to play without help from an adult. An animated teacher (Mimi Mouse) gives verbal instructions and feedback to the child which makes learning fun.

TeachMe: Toddler keeps children engaged by giving rewards for correct answers. Correct answers will earn stickers which can be placed on one of three different backgrounds to create fun sticker scenes. Sticker scenes can be exported as wallpaper or emailed to family and friends. An alternate reward system can be used where coins are earned instead of stickers. This allows parents to create their own external reward system (5 coins = a treat, 10 coins = a book, etc.).

The mute switch does affect TeachMe's audio, but does not affect iPod music and some other apps.
